Where's your energy going?
Most people have no idea.
They wonder why they're exhausted all the time.
Why they don't have energy for the things that matter.
Why they feel drained even though they didn't do anything that hard.
But they've never done an energy audit.
Let me explain what I mean.
An energy audit is looking at everything you're doing and asking:
"Is this giving me energy or taking it?"
Not time. Not money.
Energy.
Because energy is the real currency.
You can have all the time in the world, but if you're drained, you won't use it well.
You can have money, but if you're burned out, you won't enjoy it.
Energy is what determines what you're capable of.
And most people are hemorrhaging it without realizing.
The best marketing ideas come from marketers who live it. That’s what The Marketing Millennials delivers: real insights, fresh takes, and no fluff. Written by Daniel Murray, a marketer who knows what works, this newsletter cuts through the noise so you can stop guessing and start winning. Subscribe and level up your marketing game.
Here's how it happens:
You're in conversations with people who drain you.
You're doing work that feels like pulling teeth.
You're scrolling feeds that make you feel worse.
You're saying yes to things you don't actually want to do.
Every single one of these takes energy.
And if you don't protect your energy, you'll run out.
Then you'll wonder why you can't do the things that actually matter.
Here's what an energy audit looks like:
Make a list of everything you do in a week.
Work. People. Activities. Content. Obligations.
Now mark each one:
= Gives me energy
= Takes energy 0 = Neutral
Then look at the list.
If most of it is negative, that's why you're exhausted.
Not because you're doing too much.
Because you're doing the wrong things.
And here's the fix:
Cut the negatives that aren't necessary.
That draining friend? Set boundaries.
That obligation you hate? Say no.
That content that makes you feel worse? Unfollow.
And add more positives.
The work that energizes you? Do more of it.
The people who lift you up? Spend more time with them.
The activities that recharge you? Prioritize them.
This isn't selfish.
It's sustainable.
Because if you don't protect your energy, you can't show up for anything.
Not your work. Not your goals. Not the people who matter.
So do the audit.
See where your energy is actually going.
And make the hard cuts.
Because the things draining you aren't worth it.
No matter how "important" they seem.

P.S. Do the energy audit this weekend. You'll be shocked at what you find.
