Did this exercise last month.
Tracked every 30 minutes. What I was working on. How I felt about it.
End of the day I looked at the list.
And I wanted to throw my laptop out the window.
Because out of 10 hours of "work":
2 hours: Actual revenue-generating work.
3 hours: Pointless meetings that could've been emails.
2 hours: Inbox management (mostly spam and newsletters).
1.5 hours: Tweaking things that were already fine.
1.5 hours: Social media that I told myself was "networking."
Two hours. Out of ten.
That's 20% of my time actually building my business.
The rest? Theater.
Looking busy. Feeling productive. Actually accomplishing nothing.
So I made one rule:
How Jennifer Aniston’s LolaVie brand grew sales 40% with CTV ads
The DTC beauty category is crowded. To break through, Jennifer Aniston’s brand LolaVie, worked with Roku Ads Manager to easily set up, test, and optimize CTV ad creatives. The campaign helped drive a big lift in sales and customer growth, helping LolaVie break through in the crowded beauty category.
If it doesn't directly make money or directly make me better, it gets cut.
Killed the meetings. ("Can we do this over email?")
Unsubscribed from 90% of newsletters. (If I haven't opened it in a month, gone.)
Stopped tweaking. (Good enough is good enough.)
Limited social to 20 minutes. (Post and leave.)
Now I work 6 hours instead of 10.
And make more money.
Because those 6 hours are actually focused on things that matter.
Not theater. Not busywork. Not fake productivity.
Real work.
Here's the challenge:
Track your time tomorrow. Every 30 minutes. Be honest.
End of the day, add up how much time you spent on actual revenue work.
If it's under 50%, you don't have a strategy problem.
You have an attention problem.
And attention problems are just permission problems.
You're giving yourself permission to do easy, pointless stuff instead of hard, valuable stuff.
So stop.
Cut the theater. Do the real work.
You'll be shocked how much time you get back.
Talk soon, Dyl - Founder of Relentlece.
P.S. Do the tracking exercise tomorrow. 30-minute blocks. You need to see this for yourself.
