January came and went.

How many people do you think "started fresh" this year?

New goals. New habits. New everything.

And how many do you think are already back where they started?

Most of them.

Because here's what nobody wants to hear:

You don't have a starting problem.

You have a finishing problem.

Everyone loves to start.

Starting feels good. It's exciting. Full of possibility.

You get to imagine the end result without doing any of the work.

But finishing? Finishing is boring.

Finishing is doing the same thing day after day when it's not exciting anymore.

Finishing is pushing through when you don't feel like it.

Finishing is staying committed when nobody's watching.

And that's why most people never finish anything.

They just keep starting over.

New project. New plan. New version of themselves.

Always beginning. Never completing.

I see this all the time.

Someone will work on something for 3 weeks, hit resistance, and decide to pivot.

"Actually, I'm going to try this instead."

Six weeks later, same thing.

"I think I need to restart with a different approach."

And the cycle continues.

Meanwhile, the person who started at the same time but just kept going?

They're done. They've moved on to the next thing.

Not because they were more talented.

Because they finished.

AI keeps coming up at work, but you still don't get it?

Here's what I learned:

Starting over feels productive, but it's just procrastination in disguise.

Every time you restart, you reset your progress.

You go back to zero.

And zero is comfortable because you don't have to face the hard middle part.

The part where it's not new anymore but you're not good at it yet.

So here's my advice:

Stop starting over.

Just finish what you already started.

It doesn't have to be perfect.

It doesn't have to be exactly what you imagined.

It just has to be done.

Because done is better than perfect.

And done is infinitely better than another restart.

If you're reading this and thinking about something you've been meaning to "restart" or "do differently"—

Don't.

Just pick up where you left off and finish it.

You'll be shocked at how much progress you make when you stop resetting.

P.S. What have you started but not finished? Go finish it before you start anything new.
