Everyone asks the wrong question before starting something.
"Will this work?"
Impossible to answer. You don't have data. You're guessing.
So you freeze. Overthink. Wait for certainty that never comes.
Here's a better question:
"Can I recover if it doesn't work?"
Because that's answerable. Right now. With real information.
If you try this and it fails:
Do you lose money you can't afford?
Do you damage relationships you need?
Do you waste time you can't get back?
If yes to any of those, don't do it.
If no to all of them, do it immediately.
Because the downside is manageable. And manageable downside is a green light.
Most people focus on upside potential.
"This could be huge!"
But smart people focus on downside protection.
"If this fails, I lose 40 hours and learn what doesn't work. I can recover from that."
That's the real test.
Not "Will this make me rich?"
But "Can I survive if it doesn't?"

Started doing this 2 years ago.
Stopped getting paralyzed by "What if it fails?"
Because I already knew the answer: "Then I try something else."
And that clarity let me try 10x more things.
Most failed. Some worked. The ones that worked more than covered the ones that didn't.
But I only found them because I stopped asking unanswerable questions.
So before your next decision:
Don't ask: "Will this succeed?"
Ask: "Can I handle if it doesn't?"
If yes, go. If no, don't.
Simple.

P.S. What are you avoiding because you don't know if it'll work? Ask the better question. Can you recover if it doesn't?
It's Monday. Every department already has context. Nobody prepped anything.
Your CFO opens Slack. There's a weekly Stripe revenue recap in #finance with a churned-accounts flag and a net-new breakdown. She didn't ask for it.
Your head of product opens Slack. There's a GitHub summary in private channel: PRs merged, PRs stale, Linear tickets that moved. He didn't ask for it.
Your marketing lead opens Slack. There's a Google Ads performance comparison in private channel, with a note: "Meta CPA crept up 18% this week. Might be worth pausing the broad match campaign." She didn't ask for it either.
All-hands at 10am. Everyone already knows the numbers. The meeting is about decisions, not catch-up.
That's what happens when one colleague works across every tool your company uses. Not one department's assistant. The whole company's coworker.
