Everyone says "don't compare yourself to others."
Terrible advice.
Comparison is how you know you're on track.
The problem isn't comparison. It's who you're comparing yourself to.
You're comparing your day 47 to someone else's day 847.
Of course you feel behind.
But here's the fix:
Compare yourself to you.
Not you today vs them today.
You today vs you 90 days ago.
That's the only comparison that matters.
Are you better than you were 3 months ago?
Posting more? Reaching out more? Learning more?
If yes, you're winning.
Doesn't matter if someone else is ahead.
They've been at it longer. Different starting point. Different path.
Irrelevant.
The only race is: Are you beating your old self?
Because if you're improving at 1% per week, you'll 10x in a year.
And 10x you is unrecognizable from current you.
That's the game.
Not catching them. Outpacing yourself.
Here's what I track:
90 days ago: Posted 2x per week. Reached out to 5 people total. Made $2K.
Today: Posting 5x per week. Reached out to 50 people. Made $8K.
That's the comparison that matters.
Your business has grown. Is your accounting on the same path?
When you started out, doing your own books made sense. But the business you're running today isn't the one you started. If your accounting hasn't kept pace, it's quietly costing you — outdated financials, no clear view of what's actually profitable, and hours every week pulled away from the work that grows your business. At BELAY, our Financial Experts integrate directly into your business. They manage your books, reconcile accounts, run payroll, and deliver the timely insight you need to make big decisions with confidence. Stop guessing. Start knowing.
Not me vs the person making $100K. That's noise.
Me vs me. That's signal.
So if you're comparing yourself to others and feeling behind:
You're using the right tool on the wrong data.
Compare you to you.
3 months ago vs today.
If you're better, celebrate it.
If you're the same, fix it.
That's the only comparison worth making.

P.S. Compare yourself today to yourself 90 days ago. Are you better? If not, change something today.
